Stephen Robinson lives in Auckland and works as a professional photographer, working with both commercial and private clients. He spends his time photographing people, places and food. His interests include travel, cooking and planting trees. Stephen has strong links to Hawke’s Bay through his and his partner Louise’s family connections. They are currently living between Hawke’s Bay and Auckland whilst setting up a new project in Napier. Which in the not too distant future will see them making the move to the Bay.

In Stephen’s words, “War memorials are an integral part of our history and landscape that we all hold very dear. As I drive around New Zealand, I often wonder what our rural landscape would have looked like if we had not lost so many of our service men and women. My images are strong and passionate to the land itself and my and my romantic view belies a very deep sense of loss. These images are only part of that journey. I have shot over 200 buildings, monuments, gates and plaques and want to tell the story though this series of photographs. For me it is about remembrance.”
