ALEXANDRA TYLEE

Alexandra Tylee grew up in rural Hawkes Bay. The beautiful country garden of her childhood inspired in her a sense of wonder in the natural world.

"In this crazy world, we all need things to hold on to that bring us down to earth and fill us with joy. The beautiful shapes and colours of fruit, flowers and vegetables do this for me. As does a perfectly proportioned jug or bowl. A big part of their beauty and power is in their fragility, the impermanence.

Increasingly today, as we feel like we have no control over our lives, we realise that the only way to gain control is to not hold on so tightly. To let go and find that sense of peace, joy and playfulness in each moment, as nature teaches us to do."
