Muse is a contemporary art gallery and object space located in the heart of Havelock North. Established in 2017, our mission is to make art accessible. Owner Kaye Mc Garva, an artist herself, sources work from the best emerging artists as well as nurturing long standing relationships with some of New Zealand’s leading practitioners.
The gallery space is ever changing with a dynamic exhibition programme showcasing new work, while there is more art to see in the stockroom hanging on our bespoke storage racks. As a supportive member of the creative community, each July we offer an exhibition to the winner of the “Best in Show” category of the amateur art competition run by Art Hawkes Bay. For more information click here.
Muse is also a destination for unique home-wares and gifts with a carefully curated range of craft and design objects, including iconic Australian art and design company Dinosaur Designs. For more Information click here.
Muse Art Club (MAC)
We place significant importance on developing longstanding relationships with our clients. MAC has been set up to provide a social platform for clients interested in collecting, or learning more about contemporary art. We have information evenings as well as studio visits. For more Information click here.
Waimarama Artist Residency
Each year we aim to bring fresh creative talent to Hawkes Bay with an offer of an Artist Residency at stunning Waimarama beach. Auckland photographic artist Cathy Carter was the first to hold the position. In 2018, Auckland Colour Field painter Richard Adams has been chosen. At the end of the residency an exhibition of the work completed by the artist is held in the gallery in conjunction with a special preview dinner.
We offer a variety of art services such as a mobile art gallery, enabling you to see art in your own home before you buy. We also offer a professional hanging service and have a variety of art finance options available. For more Information see here.
